Robert Gould Shaw (1850-1931) was born in Maine to Samuel Parkman (1813-1869) and Hannah Buck (b. 1820) Shaw, and spent much of his life in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a cousin to famous military commander of the same name. Shaw was a prominent figure in the theater in Boston and the first curator of the Harvard Theatre Collection, appointed 1915.
